Every figure below is quoted from Mixpanel's own pages and linked to its source. Including the ones that make us look worse.
Funnels, retention, cohorts and session replay: both products do these, and both do them well. If product analytics is all you need, this page is not going to talk you out of Mixpanel — they have been doing it longer than we have.
Mixpanel describes its own suite like this:
“product analytics, web analytics, mobile analytics, experimentation and feature flagging, Metric Trees, session replay, heatmaps, and warehouse connectors”
Read the list again. There is no email, no campaign automation, no live chat and no in-app onboarding in it. That is not an omission we found — it is the product they sell, described by them.
Feature flags and experimentation did arrive, but they are sold as a separate add-on and only on the top plan: Enterprise plan only, priced as a separate add-on.

Replays past what a plan includes are not priced publicly by Mixpanel, so we do not estimate them.
Kilden is the cheaper option above about 1.2M events a month, at 10K replays. Below that, Mixpanel's free tier wins on price.
Mixpanel's free plan includes twice the session replays ours does, and their Growth plan includes four times as many. If replay is the thing you care about and your event volume is small, their free tier is the better deal — and volume discounts on their paid rate are available that we have not modelled here, because they are not published.
In Kilden, your backend signs who the user is with a standard JWT, and a conversation cannot be read without that signature. It is not a setting to switch on — the messenger refuses unsigned reads. Analytics tools take identity on faith because for analytics that is usually fine; the moment a product also carries messages, faith is not enough.
Honestly: an afternoon for the install, longer for the trust.
Kilden takes arbitrary event names and free-form properties, so the tracking plan you already have transfers as-is. Autocapture means pageviews, clicks and forms arrive without any plan at all.
Both SDKs on the page at once. It is the only way to see the same funnel in both tools and trust the one you are moving to.
We do not import it, and we would be suspicious of anyone who promised to. Historical events carry a definition of identity that only the tool that recorded them can honour. Keep Mixpanel read-only for as long as the old numbers matter.
This section is here because a comparison without one is an advertisement.
They have been running product analytics for over a decade at volumes we have not been asked to handle. Their query engine, their docs and their support have been sanded down by many more customers than ours.
They hold formal certifications and offer regional data hosting. We hold neither today, and our own compliance page says so.
If your analytics has to feed a warehouse and a long tail of other tools, their catalogue is far deeper than ours.
Heatmaps and Metric Trees are theirs. We have no equivalent, and pretending otherwise would be the kind of claim this page exists to avoid.
For product analytics, yes: funnels, retention, cohorts, breakdowns and session replay are all there. For heatmaps, Metric Trees and warehouse connectors, no — we do not have them. The reason to move is usually not the analytics, it is that campaigns, chat and in-app guides come with it.
No, and we would rather say so than sell a migration that arrives with broken identity. Events carry the identity resolution of the tool that recorded them. Keep Mixpanel read-only while the old numbers still matter.
Both run in production today: campaign journeys with email, in-app and WhatsApp channels, and a two-way messenger with an inbox in the panel.
No. Neither do they — Mixpanel bills on event volume too. Whole teams get in on both sides, which is worth saying because plenty of comparison pages pretend otherwise.
Not today. Open sourcing is on our roadmap and we are not going to promise a date for it.
Every Mixpanel figure on this page was verified against the pages below on August 1, 2026. If one of them has changed since, tell us and we will fix it.
The free plan needs no card, and autocapture means the first funnel exists before you have written a tracking plan.
